Newspapers or print journalism has been one of the oldest forms of journalism, it consists of newspapers, magazines and journals. In this profession there are many areas where one can work in, like, editors, reporters, columnists, correspondents. The main activity of journalism is the reporting of events by stating who, what, when, where, why and how and explaining its significance and impact. People all around the world, in huge numbers, count on TV news, magazines, newspapers, and radio to information, enlighten, and even entertain them. Journalism exists in a number of media, like, newspapers, television, radio, magazines and the most famous and Internet. Editors are in charge of the over-all functions of the publication. Their primary responsibility is to supervise the functions of collection, selection and presentation of news. Also desirable are creativity, curiosity, a broad range of knowledge, self-motivation, and perseverance. Editors can be divided into three categories — chief editor, sub editor, and news/feature editor. Editors must have college degrees. Often a broad liberal arts background is desirable, but some employers prefer a degree in communications, journalism, or English. When specializing in a particular subject area, a degree in that field is important. In smaller companies, beginning writers and editors may begin writing and editing immediately. dvertising copywriting is a career in which you can be creative, and work with creative people. They write the ads which millions of people watch, read and listen everyday. They write the original wording of advertisements, which need to be eye-catching and persuasive. The wording may consist of slogans, jingles, text or captions, for brochures, catalogues, posters, leaflets, television or radio commercials. In putting together an advertisement, advertising copywriter must keep within the limits of the advertising code of practice. You must be prepared to accept criticism and the frustration of having your work amended. Visual understanding is useful and some art and design graduates choose this career. Each campaign begins with a briefing session to provide the copywriter with information about the client, product and the target group. Sometimes the subject is an organization and its policies toward its employees or its role in the community. Often the subject is a public issue, such as health, energy, or the environment, and what an organization does to advance that issue. Public relations offices are busy places; work schedules can be irregular and frequently interrupted. Schedules often have to be rearranged so that workers can meet deadlines, deliver speeches, attend meetings and community activities, and travel. Many colleges and universities offer bachelor’s and postsecondary degrees in public relations, usually in a journalism or communications department. In addition, many other colleges offer at least one course in this field.
